This is a plain-language starting draft. It reflects how ArticleGrade handles data today, but it is not legal advice — review and adapt it with your own counsel before relying on it. Bracketed placeholders (e.g. [Company legal name], [jurisdiction]) must be completed before publication.

ArticleGrade ("ArticleGrade", "we", "us") is a content-quality gate. You give us a live published URL; we fetch that page, score it across E-E-A-T, AI-artifacts, factual depth and SEO/structure using two large language models, and return a pass/fail verdict with phrase-level fixes. This policy explains what data that involves, what we do with it, and the choices you have.
It covers our website, the free single-page grader, the Pro and Growth dashboards, and the API.
Account data. The information needed to create and run your workspace: name, email address, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), workspace and team details, and your plan and subscription status. If you use the API, this includes your API keys and their usage.
Audit data. The substance of the service. When you submit a page, we collect and store:
We fetch the page as it is publicly published. We don't log into your site or access anything behind a paywall or authentication on your behalf.
Usage and analytics data. Standard technical and product-usage information: log data (IP address, browser/user-agent, timestamps), pages and features used, audit volume, and error diagnostics. We use this to operate, secure and improve the service.
No card data. We do not collect or store full payment-card numbers on our servers. Payments are handled by a third-party payments processor; we receive only limited billing metadata (such as plan, status, and a partial card descriptor) needed to manage your subscription.
We use the data above to:
Product improvement is done through our own analysis of how the service performs. It is not used to train AI models — see the next section.
We do not use your audited pages, audit results, content snapshots or account data to train AI models — ours or anyone else's.
We also do not opt into model-training or data-retention programs with our AI providers. Content we send to Claude and Gemini to perform an audit is processed to return your result, not to train their models.
We rely on a small set of vetted providers to run ArticleGrade. Each may process page content, account data, or both, strictly to provide their part of the service:
| Subprocessor | Purpose | Data processed |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude) | Quality, E-E-A-T and factual-depth audit | Page content snapshot sent for analysis |
| Google (Gemini) | SEO/structure screen and scoring | Page content snapshot sent for analysis |
| Cloud hosting provider | Runs our application, database and storage | Account data, audit data, logs |
| Payments processor | Subscription billing and card handling | Billing metadata (card data held by the processor, not us) |
| Transactional email provider | Account, security and service emails | Email address, message content |
We require subprocessors to handle data under appropriate confidentiality and security terms, and — as noted above — not to use your content or audits for model training. We may update this list as the service evolves; material changes will be reflected here.
We retain account and audit data for as long as your workspace is active, so your dashboard history stays available to you. Logs and operational data are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
You can export or delete your workspace data on request — including your audit history and content snapshots — by contacting us at privacy@articlegrade.com. When you close your account, we delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, accounting or security obligations.
We design ArticleGrade to protect the data it handles. In brief:
No system is perfectly secure, but we work continually to protect your data. We are an early-stage company building toward formal certification (such as SOC 2); we do not currently hold those certifications and do not claim them. Report any security concern to security@articlegrade.com.
We use a minimal set of cookies and similar technologies:
You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break parts of the service.
ArticleGrade operates online and uses providers that may process data in countries other than your own. Where data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or an equivalent lawful transfer mechanism) consistent with applicable data-protection law. The governing jurisdiction for this policy is [jurisdiction].
ArticleGrade is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 (or under 13 where that is the applicable threshold). If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Subject to your local law, you may have the right to:
To exercise any of these, email privacy@articlegrade.com. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
We may update this policy as the product, our subprocessors, or the law change. When we make material changes, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app. Continued use of ArticleGrade after an update means you accept the revised policy.
